FIRST® LEGO® League, Jr.
Explore robotics engineering with hands-on activities during a week-long, half day program designed specifically for students who are currently in 1rd through 3rd grades. Students will participate in a weeklong FIRST ® LEGO ® League, Jr. program, from design to competition.
Camp Dates and Times
July 10-14, 2017
Session 1: 8:00am to 11:30am each day
Session 2: 1:30pm to 5:00pm each day
Eligibility and Application
Students currently in 1st through 3rd grade (entering 2nd through 4th grades during the 2017-2018 school year) are eligible to apply. Students are selected based on quality of application materials and space available in the chosen time slots and locations.
The camp costs $300 for the entire week. This program fee covers snacks, a t-shirt, insurance, and other camp related expenses. Lunch is not provided.
Program fees are due upon acceptance to the program. Scholarships are available thanks to the generosity of a number of sponsors. Please complete and send the scholarship application before the application deadline in order to receive consideration for these scholarships.
The FIRST ® LEGO ® League, Jr. camps are coordinated by Dr. Richard Cassady and Mrs. Rachel Hickman. Dr. Cassady is a Professor of Industrial Engineering and Director of the Freshman Engineering Program at the University of Arkansas. Mrs. Hickman is a 2nd grade teacher at Bernice Young Elementary School in Springdale, Arkansas. Dr. Cassady and Mrs. Hickman are also the coaches of the YoungLings, the 2011-2014 Arkansas FIRST ® LEGO ® League Champions.
